Granite Soil and a Sheltered Climate
The Dão is sheltered by three mountain massifs — Estrela, Caramulo and Buçaco — which hold back the Atlantic winds and the storms of the interior. The vines grow in poor granite soils, forcing the roots to search for nutrients in the depths.
This unique combination gives the wines a vibrant natural acidity, aromas of clear fruit and a crystalline minerality that remains unchanged over the years.
